Day 2

Day 2 (11/2)

I'm thankful for my amazing parents, who have always stood behind me no matter what.

What I'm Thankful For-Day 1

I saw this on Facebook and figured I'd try it.  For every day in November you say one thing you are thankful for.  Since I have plenty to be thankful for, I decided this shouldn't be too difficult.

Day 1 (11/1)

I am thankful for my beautiful, smart and sassy mini-me who has forever changed my life and makes me want to be a better person.

And, in case you were wondering...

This is the pug, Daisy May.  She has been with us since she was 8 weeks old.  She's like part of the family; we all love Miss Daisy!

Mother's Day 2012

A day that makes my heart soar. I'm so proud to be Savannah's mother and for the three of us to spend the day together was the best gift one could ever ask for.

Easter 2012

Easter this year was pretty crazy with so much going on but we did all enjoy the time spent together as a family.

Our Little Cheerleader

Over the summer, Savannah participated in a cheer group called the "Bearkittens" which is a cheerleading group for youngsters.  It goes by "Bearkitten" because it was held at my Alma Mater Brookland-Cayce High School.  This, of course, made my day and when I had originally heard about it, I signed her up the same day!  After the camp was over, the group would cheer at the very first JV football game of the season.  How cool!  It felt incredible to go back to "The Cage" and see my daughter perform there when I performed there years ago.  I was so incredibly proud of her; she did great!!

Kindergarten

August 20th was Savannah's 1st day of Kindergarden and it was quite a bittersweet day.  I decided to take the morning off so I could take her to school and pick her up; she only went from 8-10 that morning.  Josh came, too and we were both in disbelief that our baby was in "big girl" school.  Of course I was a nervous wreck and cried off and on the night before and the morning of.  When we walked her into class, she casually waved and said "bye, Mom" and headed to learn.  It was at that time that I completely broke down in tears.  I couldn't regain my composure fast enough and had to leave the room.  After we dropped her off, Josh and I headed to grab some breakfast and we both sat in silence, like we couldn't believe we just handed our "baby" over.  Very emotional.  I couldn't pick her up fast enough.  I believe we got back to the school around 9:30; I just couldn't wait any longer.

Sunday at the Museum

Yesterday, Josh and I took Savannah to the State Museum for the 1st time. Overall, we had a good time; I just think most of the exhibits were a bit too old for her so she was ready to go home a lot faster than Josh and I were.

4th of July 2012

This 4th of July my Aunt decided to throw a party for family, friends & co-workers. She has the most beautiful house with an even more fabulous back yard and an awesome pool. After the party, Josh and I took Savannah out to Fort Jackson for the fireworks. We all had such a great time! Savannah & I put down a blanket so we could watch the fireworks. It was a fantastic (free!) way to spend time together!

Here we go, again...

I did the blog thing for a while but it seemed to get out of control.  This time, I'm going to (try) keep it PG and post only things about our life.  Things have been spiraling out of control since about March of this year.  It's definitely been rough and if all of this is some sort of test, I'm failing miserably.  I'm trying to keep faith & keep going if only for my daughter who needs 100% of her mom.

Work has been interesting.  It's been pretty rough for a while & one Friday I actually came home with the decision to quit.  No questions asked.  Instead, I decided to pray about it.  I prayed a lot & hard.  I finally came to the decision that I am blessed to have a job, especially one that pays so well & that is really not that difficult of a job.  I went to my boss & had a sit down with here and, so far, things have been going much better.

Since Josh and I separated he started attending a church nearby that some of his family are members of.  It's a Pentecostal Holiness church and is completely different to what I'm used to; I was raised Roman Catholic & still consider myself a practicing Catholic.  All of the yelling, speaking in tongues, laying hands & falling out onto the floor with the "Spirit" is quite a shocker to what I'm used to.  The first service was quite intimidating & I wasn't sure I would attend again.  Josh and I had a long talk about it and he asked me to continue to attend with him.  I'm putting my best foot forward and we've been going for a while now.  I've since made the decision to read the Bible, and so far I'm almost finished with Genesis.  Thank goodness for good friends who give me easy Bibles to read!

That's about all for tonight.  Hopefully I'll start brainstorming things to write about!
